1999-0133-F [2] SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE This second segment of FOIA 1999-0133-F contains material related to the hijacking of the Achille Lauro in 1985. These files are photocopies of Oliver North's National Security Council files from the Reagan Administration. The photocopies were maintained by the Bush Administration?s National Security Council. The files contain a large amount of material relevant to this FOIA request, including situation reports, electronic messages, option memoranda, and diplomatic correspondence dealing with the hijacking of the cruise ship in October 1985. Much of this material is closed for national security reasons and is therefore unavailable for research. Due to the restrictions of the Presidential Records Act and the Freedom of Information Act all decision making correspondence and memoranda have been removed, leaving approximately 300 pages of routine correspondence, press releases, routine reports, and newspaper articles in the open file.
