SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This FOIA request contains material related to the attacks at the Rome and Vienna airports in December 1985, the bombing of the La Belle Disco in Berlin, and the US bombing of Libya in 1986. The Vice Presidential Subject File documents deal with the American public's reaction to the bombing of Libya. The National Security Affairs files cover Vice President Bush's dealings with foreign governments, usually with political leaders from each country. While there is some discussion of the terrorism acts listed above, there are few records directly responsive to this request. Due to the restrictions of the Presidential Records Act and the Freedom of Information Act all decision making correspondence and memoranda have been removed, leaving approximately 400 pages of routine correspondence, press releases, routine reports, and newspaper clippings in the open file.
