WHORM - Holidays (HO)

(32.9 linear feet; boxes 1-74)

A primary subject category containing information largely pertaining to the issuance of presidential proclamations, messages, and letters vis-a-vis legal and recognized holidays and observances. Other types of records include congressional resolutions, presidential remarks in connection with White House signing ceremonies, and correspondence from constituents requesting copies of specific documents. Many of these papers went through several revisions and drafts. The researcher can see how a proclamation entitled "National Good Teen Day," for example, started off as a rough statement and ended up as a polished declaration. Most of the records come from Shirley Green, Teresa Donovan, James Cicconi, and John Gardner who were responsible for most of President Bush's holiday pronouncements.
