Library Issues Forum: Dr. Bill Leffler

William Leffler is the co-author of "'Deepwater Petroleum Exploration & Production: A Nontechnical Guide'... the most comprehensive and authoritative text available on the business, engineering, and technology side of this multi-billion dollar industry... extensive coverage of all aspects of deepwater operations—including historic background and an outlook to future deepwater operations." (PennWell Publishing) Dr. Leffler will address the past, present and future of the offshore oil industry in preparation for our upcoming exhibit, "Offshore Drilling: The Promise of Discovery" which will open March 31.

Leffler earned his MBA and PhD at New York University and his BS at M.I.T. Following a 36-year career with Royal Dutch/Shell in the upstream, downstream and petrochemicals business, he became a writer and consultant. During his career he spent time in refining, marketing, petrochemicals and corporate planning in the United States, and in exploration and production in London. He has had numerous articles published, many in petroleum journals. He is also the author of "Petroleum Refining in Nontechnical Language," "Petrochemicals in Nontechnical Language," "Oil & Gas Production in Nontechnical Language" and "Romancing the Scone: Finding Our Way in a Land Full of Brits."
