Classic Film: "The Big Sleep"

Date(s): May 9, 2013
Time(s): 7 p.m. CDT
Location: Annenberg Presidential Conference Center

(1946, 114 minutes, Black and White) Directed by Howard Hawks

A dangerous blackmailer has targeted the Sternwoods, a wealthy family once tucked away in the safety of their Los Angeles mansion. But while private eye Philip Marlowe (Humphrey Bogart) works on the case, he ends up falling for the clan's fiery daughter (Lauren Bacall). Crackling dialogue and the perfect pairing for Bogart and Bacall make this adaptation of Raymond Chandler’s novel a timeless classic.

Free popcorn and refreshments are available in the lobby in the hour preceding the start of each movie. All films are shown in the Hagler Auditorium of the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center unless otherwise noted, and a speaker introduces each film. Parking is free and plentiful.
