Classic Film: "The Great Race," part of the Headed to the Movies! film series

Date(s): February 9, 2012
Time(s): 7 p.m.
Location: Annenberg Presidential Conference Center's Hagler Auditorium

(1965, 160 minutes, color) Directed by Blake Edwards. Professional daredevil Leslie Gallant (Tony Curtis) convinces turn-of-the-century automakers that a road race from New York to Paris will help promote car sales. Leslie's arch-rival, Professor Fate (Jack Lemmon), vows to beat Leslie to the finish line in a car of Fate's own invention. What ensues is the wackiest transcontinental road race ever, directed by Blake Edwards and co-starring Natalie Wood and Peter Falk.

The George Bush Presidential Library and Museum, George Bush Presidential Library Foundation, and BTU present the Classic Film Series free of charge and invite anyone in the community to attend. Beverages are provided courtesy of Bryan Coca Cola Bottling Company and popcorn is available at no cost. Refreshments are available in the lobby in the hour preceding the start of each movie. All films are shown in the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center's Hagler Auditorium, unless otherwise noted, and a speaker introduces each film. Parking is free and plentiful.
