Classic Film: "Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation," part of the Headed to the Movies! film series
(1962, 116 minutes, color) Directed by Henry Koster. Adapted from the novel by Edward Streeter, this classic family comedy follows the misadventures of harried city-dweller Roger Hobbs (James Stewart), who agrees to take his wife, Peggy (Maureen O'Hara), and their children - and their children's children - on vacation at the beach. What begins as a relaxing escape quickly blossoms into a colossal nightmare, complete with a dilapidated summer rental that's practically falling down. The George Bush Presidential Library and Museum, George Bush Presidential Library Foundation, and BTU present the Classic Film Series free of charge and invite anyone in the community to attend. Beverages are provided courtesy of Bryan Coca Cola Bottling Company and popcorn is available at no cost. Refreshments are available in the lobby in the hour preceding the start of each movie. All films are shown in the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center's Hagler Auditorium, unless otherwise noted, and a speaker introduces each film. Parking is free and plentiful.
