The United States Flag of Honor
Beginning June 25 through July 2, the United States Flag of Honor will be on display in the Rotunda at the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum. The United States Flag of Honor was flying over the Texas Capitol during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Shortly afterward, Texas Gov. Rick Perry sent that American flag and a Texas state flag to New York City. The flag later became known as the United States Flag of Honor and was presented to then New York Governor George Pataki at New York Police Department headquarters, in recognition of police officers and firefighters who lost their lives in the September 11 terrorist attacks. The flag then was flown over Ground Zero at the World Trade Center site.
