Classic Film: The Natural

Date(s): May 8, 2008
Time(s): 7pm
Location: Orientation Theater of the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum

The Natural (1984, 134 minutes, color), directed by Barry Levinson. A bat made from a tree struck by lightening and a passion for the game define Roy Hobbs (Robert Redford). But when he's shot and severely wounded, his career gets cut short. Years later, Hobbs tries out for a struggling team. He steps to the plate and knocks the ball out of the park in this mythic film that's as epic as America's favorite pastime.

Take me out to the movies! Born to Play Ball is a collection of films dedicated to America's Favorite Pastime--baseball. In conjuction with the musuem exhibit of the same name, we will feature an array of inspiring, humorous-and yes, even musical-tales of baseball lore.

The Bush Library and the Bush Library Foundation present the Classic Film Series free of charge and invite anyone in the community to attend. Beverages are provided courtesy of Bryan Coca Cola Bottling Company and popcorn is available at no cost. Refreshments are available in the lobby in the hour preceding the start of each movie. Parking is free and plentiful. For more information, please call Tracy at (979)691-4014.
