Life of a Buffalo Soldier
Date(s): February 23, 2006
Time(s): 10:30 - 11:30pm and 12:30 - 1:30pm
Location: Frymire Auditorium, GBPLC
We are proud to honor Black History Month by presenting “Life of a Buffalo Soldier.” In 1866 through an Act of Congress, legislation was adopted to create six African American units. In 1867, Cheyenne Warriors gave the nickname of “Buffalo Soldiers” to the African American cavalry out of respect for their fierce fighting ability. Come and hear the “Texas Story” of the 9th Cavalry and the 24th and 25th Infantry Regiments. The Education Department provides storytelling programs free of charge. Also, ask about free tours of The Museum at the George Bush Presidential Library.
