Children Speak: Tsunami
Date(s): December 18, 2006 to December 31, 1969
In December 2004, a record-breaking tsunami swept the coast of Southeast Asia, claiming hundreds of thousands of lives, displacing more than 2 million people and devastating 11 countries. In a new display, Children Speak: Tsunami, a collection of artwork by child survivors of the 2004 tsunami portrays the children’s perspective of the disaster, their view of the world and the resilience of the human spirit. The hope and power of humanity are expressed through the eyes of these courageous children and their art. This moving collection opens on December 18, 2006 and will be on exhibit in the Museum Rotunda until February 15, 2007.
