Union Pacific Challenger 3985 Returns to College Station

The George Bush Presidential Library welcomes Union Pacific's "Challenger" steam locomotive #3985 to College Station on Sunday June 13, 2004. The Challenger will be pulling a special train transporting selected guests of former President George H.W. Bush to events at the George Bush Library. The locomotive will arrive in College Station between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. and stop in the vicinity of Wellborn Road and Highway 60 (University Drive). The locomotive will head north shortly after 11:00 a.m. to turn around for the return trip to Houston. The 3985 will return to College Station between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. and will stop in the vicinity of George Bush Drive and Wellborn Road near the Olsen Field baseball stadium. The 3985 will depart for Houston between 3:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Although no official public inspection of the locomotive is scheduled, it can easily be viewed from public property along Wellborn Road in College Station.
