Classic Film: "Christmas in Connecticut," part of the Headed to the Movies! film series

Date(s): December 8, 2011
Time(s): 7 p.m.
Location: Annenberg Presidential Conference Center's Hagler Auditorium

(1945, 102 minutes, black and white) Directed by Peter Godfrey. Journalist Elizabeth Lane (Barbara Stanwyck) is one of the country's most famous magazine writers. In her columns, she describes her life as a hard-working farm wife, taking care of her young baby and being an excellent cook. In reality, however, she is an unmarried New Yorker who can barely toast bread. The publisher of the magazine (Sydney Greenstreet) has decided that a returning war hero (Dennis Morgan) should spend Christmas with her family on her Connecticut farm. If she can't pull this off, her career is over, but it will be the ruse of a lifetime.

The George Bush Presidential Library and Museum, George Bush Presidential Library Foundation, and BTU present the Classic Film Series free of charge and invite anyone in the community to attend. Beverages are provided courtesy of Bryan Coca Cola Bottling Company and popcorn is available at no cost. Refreshments are available in the lobby in the hour preceding the start of each movie. All films are shown in the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center's Hagler Auditorium, unless otherwise noted, and a speaker introduces each film. Parking is free and plentiful.
