Classic Film: "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre," part of the Headed to the Movies! film series
(1948, 126 minutes, black and white) Directed by John Huston. Fred C. Dobbs (Humphrey Bogart) and Bob Curtin (Tim Holt), both down on their luck in Tampico, Mexico, in 1925, meet up with a grizzled prospector named Howard (Walter Huston) and decide to join with him in search of gold in the wilds of central Mexico. Through enormous difficulties, they eventually succeed in finding gold, but bandits, the elements and most especially greed threaten to turn their success into disaster. The George Bush Presidential Library and Museum, George Bush Presidential Library Foundation, and BTU present the Classic Film Series free of charge and invite anyone in the community to attend. Beverages are provided courtesy of Bryan Coca Cola Bottling Company and popcorn is available at no cost. Refreshments are available in the lobby in the hour preceding the start of each movie. All films are shown in the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center's Hagler Auditorium, unless otherwise noted, and a speaker introduces each film. Parking is free and plentiful.
