Special Event: Remembering 9/11

Date(s): September 9, 2011
Time(s): 10 a.m.
Location: George Bush Presidential Library and Museum's Rotunda

Sept. 11, 2001, is a day that forever changed our country and the world. Four commercial airliners were hijacked by al-Qaida terrorists: two were flown into the World Trade Center, one into the Pentagon and a fourth crashed into a field in Pennsylvania after passengers fought back. Ten years later, we will remember the almost 3,000 lives that were lost and honor the many heroes that risked their lives in the days following the attacks. A piece of the steel from the World Trade Center will be on display in the rotunda from Aug. 29 through Sept. 11. The remembrance ceremony will include special musical selections, recognition of first responders and members of Texas Task Force 1 along with a special keynote address. For more information, contact Brian Blake at 979-458-6837, or email to brian.blake@tamu.edu.

KBTX will be streaming the ceremony on their website at www.kbtx.com.

First responders and active-duty military service members (with appropriate ID) and up to five immediate family members will be admitted to the museum for free from Friday, Sept. 9 - Sunday, Sept. 11.
