Annual Easter Celebration
The George Bush Presidential Library and Museum, in conjunction with the College Station Police Department, will hold our annual Easter Celebration at the Museum on Saturday April 4, from 9:30 a.m. until noon. Activities will include entertainment, games, face painting, storytelling, an Easter egg hunt, egg roll, egg toss, complimentary refreshments and photos with the Easter Bunny.
The College Station Easter Egg Hunt has been a long standing tradition hosted by the Police Department. From humble beginnings in 1982, the Easter Celebration has evolved to the highly-anticipated event of the spring, and this year celebrates its 28th year. Eleven years ago the Museum began partnering with the police department, and each year the event becomes increasingly popular with the local community, drawing larger and larger crowds. The Museum has added activities to the event in an attempt to model the celebration after the White House Easter Egg Roll.
Specially designed wooden White House-style Easter Eggs are given to the children. There will be carnival games and activities planned as well as face painting. Local merchants contribute prizes to give away, and a boy and a girl bicycle and helmet will be awarded in each of the three age categories. Parents must register their children to win. Parents can register on site or download the attached form and bring it the morning of the event. The Brazos Valley Troupe will perform for the children. Volunteers will give away Coca-Cola. Local sponsors for this event are: BTU, Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union, Bryan Coca-Cola, Feathercrest Farms, Chick-Fil-A, First Victoria, Flying Penguin Ice, Little Caesar's Pizza, George Bush Presidential Library Foundation, Ice House, Target, and Varsity Ford Lincoln Mercury.
Barbara Bush Drive will be closed to traffic before and during the event. Participants should access the museum via Research Drive, Discovery Drive or John Kimbrough Blvd. Parking will be available in the museum parking lot and Bush School lot (PA 111). Handicapped parking will be available in the Museum parking lot.
This year's event promises to be the best yet. Please join us for this celebration. For more information call 979-691-4014 or bushlibrary.tamu.edu.
