Freedom's Legacy: Celebration of Juneteenth
Date(s): June 14, 2007 to December 31, 1969Following the Annual Freedom March, a free public storytelling concert from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. will be held with Diane Ferlatte accompanied by Erik Pearson on banjo and guitar in the Frymire Auditorium. Internationally renowned storyteller Diane Ferlatte combines animated characterization and dynamic, expressive narrative. Through stories, songs, humor and audience participation, she brings her tales to life and touches all with a repertoire of legend and historical stories. An Educators Seminar will be held from 9:00 to 3:30 p.m. with Diane Ferlatte and Dr. Albert S. Broussard focusing on African-American history and offering primary sources to enhance teaching.
