Press Release

For Release: July 6, 2010
College Station, TX -

The George Bush Presidential Library and Museum's website, http://bushlibrary.tamu.edu, was breached July 4 by a group claiming to be "Saudi hackers."

The intrusion was brought to the attention of library staff around 9:30 p.m. July 4 during the College Station Noon Lions Club's 50th Annual Fourth of July "I Love America" Celebration, and by 9:45 the website had been restored.

On one of the website's pages, the hackers wrote "i hate amireca [sic]," and another page had what appeared to be Arabic writing.

The George Bush Library's website is hosted by Texas A&M University, and university officials are investigating the incident.

Media requests for information should be sent to the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum public relations department using the contact information at the top of the release.
