Annual Easter Celebration
The George Bush Presidential Library and Museum, in conjunction with the College Station Police Department, will hold our annual Easter Celebration at the Museum on Saturday March 15, from 9:30 a.m. until noon. Activities will include entertainment, games, face painting, an Easter egg hunt, egg roll, egg toss, complimentary refreshments and a visit from the Easter Bunny.
The College Station Easter Egg Hunt has been a long standing tradition hosted by the Police Department. From humble beginnings in 1982, the Easter Celebration has evolved to the highly-anticipated event of the spring, and this year celebrates its 27th year. Ten years ago the Museum began partnering with the police department, and each year the event becomes increasingly popular with the local community, drawing larger and larger crowds. The Museum has added activities to the event in an attempt to model the celebration after the White House Easter Egg Roll.
Specially designed wooden White House-style Easter Eggs are given to the children. There will be carnival games and activities planned as well as face painting. Local merchants contribute prizes to give away, and a boys and girls bicycle and helmet will be awarded to randomly selected winners in each of the three age categories. Volunteers will give away snacks and Coca-Cola. Local sponsors for this event are: BTU, Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union, Bryan Coca-Cola, Feathercrest, Garlyn Shelton, George Bush Presidential Library Foundation, Ice House, Target, Tom Light Chevrolet, and Varsity Ford.
Barbara Bush Drive will be closed to traffic before and during the event. Participants should access the museum via Research Drive, Discovery Drive or John Kimbrough Blvd. Parking will be in the grassy area of Research Park directly across from the museum complex, handicapped parking will be available in the Museum parking lot.
This year's event promises to be the best yet. Please join us for this celebration. For more information call 979-691-4014 or bushlibrary.tamu.edu.
