Gold from head to foot would describe this self-proclaimed “fastest man in the world.” From a young age he knew his forte was track and he yearned for wins at the Olympics, often hyping himself for medals he knew would soon follow. Johnson maximized his thinking by fostering the proper image, becoming known for his customized and symbolic gold-colored track shoes. The combination worked for him as he became the first man to be ranked number one in the world by breaking records at both the 200m and 400m (19.32 seconds and 43.49 seconds respectively). Johnson enjoyed career wins with five NCAA championships, nine World Championships, and five Olympic gold medals, leading many to consider him among the greatest athletes of all time.
