An Aggie legend, this adopted Texas son, Heisman Trophy winner, and Scholastic All-American led Texas A&M University to eight victories in 1957. The only Heisman Trophy winner to play under Coach “Bear” Bryant, Crow went on to an illustrious professional career playing with the Chicago Cardinals and the San Francisco 49ers, as well as participating in four Pro-Bowls. He continued his professional career with coaching positions at the University of Alabama, the Cleveland Browns, the San Diego Chargers, and Northeast Louisiana University before returning to the Aggies as Athletic Director. John David Crow remains active, even in his retirement. He was recently honored with the PriceWaterhouseCoopers Doak Walker Legends Award, which recognizes former running backs for their contributions to their local communities.
