On one side of this ewer a Buddha is shown seated in meditation on a fully blooming lotus, a symbol of Buddhist purity. On the reverse are passages from the Sutra Prajnaparamita (Sutra on the Perfection of Wisdom), one of the most important sacred texts of Buddhism.
