Besides being a printer, publisher, and author, Dr. Franklin had many interests and accomplishments. Among other things, he was a respected scientist, inventor, diplomat, and early advocate of public libraries. This book, The Memoirs of Great Britain and Ireland, came from his personal library, and has his signature of ownership on the title page. The inside-cover bears his bookcase and location number, which was the system he used as a finding aid.
