The George Bush Presidential Library and Museum's Ansary Gallery will be in the center of the spotlight beginning Oct. 1, 2010, presenting "The Heart Truth® Red Dress Collection and First Ladies Red Dress Collection."

Twelve celebrity red dresses from the Red Dress Collection Fashion Show, held annually in New York City, will be on display with all the drama, glitter and glitz of a runway show. The featured dresses were worn by Vanessa Williams, Valerie Bertinelli, Heidi Klum, Danica Patrick, Paula Zahn, Katie Couric, Robin Roberts, Allison Janney, Christie Brinkley, Lee Ann Womack, Felicity Huffman and Dara Torres.

The Heart Truth® is a national awareness campaign for women about heart disease sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, part of the National Institutes of Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Additionally, First Ladies' red dresses from the 13 Presidential Libraries of the National Archives and Records Administration will be on exhibit in the Ansary Gallery. This collection, originally initiated by The Heart Truth® Founding Ambassador Laura Bush, has been expanded and will highlight some rarely seen gowns, including a dress belonging to Jacqueline Kennedy. The featured First Ladies also include Lou Hoover, Eleanor Roosevelt, Bess Truman, Mamie Eisenhower, Lady Bird Johnson, Pat Nixon, Betty Ford, Rosalynn Carter, Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush, Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush.

Through an unprecedented partnership with the Texas A&M Health Science Center, there will also be educational interactives and information about heart related issues such as high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes, obesity and healthy lifestyles. Visitors will enter an emergency room bay and learn how to resuscitate a heart attack victim. Another station will teach how to hear heart and breath sounds. There will also be risk screenings for diabetes, body mass index, and heart disease due to smoking.

KBTX is partnering with the Bush Library and Museum and will be featuring a medical minute each month before our Issues Forum series. Dr. Alan Xenakis, professor at the Texas A&M Health Science Center, will present information relating to the upcoming Issues Forum topic.

In conjunction with "The Heart Truth® Red Dress Collection" exhibit, the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum will host an extraordinary array of special programs and events.
