Trains: Tracks of the Iron Horse - Modeling Seminar

June 3-4 and 10-11, 2006

All demonstrations are in the rotunda of the library and are free to the public. Reservations are not required. Each demonstration will last for 30-60 minutes depending on the topic.

Remote Control / Digital Command Control Demonstrations

June 3, 2006, Saturday

10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. - remote control demonstration for O-Gauge (Lionel) trains.
11:00 a.m. and 3: 00 p.m. - DCC (Digital Command Control) demonstration clinic for N-Scale and HO-Scale trains.

June 4, 2006, Sunday

10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. - remote control demonstration for O-Gauge (Lionel) trains.
11:00 a.m. and 3: 00 p.m. - DCC (Digital Command Control) demonstration clinic for N-Scale and HO-Scale trains.

Constructing a Model Railroad Layout from the Ground Up

Below, please find the schedule for the construction of a model railroad layout in the rotunda of the library. Each phase of construction will comprise one workshop. Please note that Sunday's construction will continue work begun and Saturday.

June 10, 2006, Saturday

10:00 a.m. - construction techniques for small layouts
11:00 a.m. - installing (laying) cork roadbed
12:30 p.m. - installing (laying) N-Scale track
1:30 p.m. - track wiring for a small layout
2:30 p.m. - track ballasting
3:30 p.m. - first step, scenic layout with hydracal and plaster rocks

June 11, 2006, Sunday

12:30 p.m. - second step, painting and landscaping layout
1:30 p.m. - adding trees and weeds
2:30 p.m. - adding houses, autos and people
3:30 p.m. - complete and operate
